Relaxation

This thread takes place in the present.

Adam sprawled out on his beach towel, sighing heavily as he took in the scents around him. The warm air was fragrant with tropical blossoms that reminded him of things Aurora would wear in perfumes, and the sand and salt made a combination that he could almost taste in his mouth - it was a good taste, the taste of a vacation. He felt like he was in a Corona commercial, actually, and if it weren't for the fact that his relaxation companion had insisted on Pina Coladas, complete with the little umbrellas, he'd have had a nice, refreshing Bud Light in his hands.

But no. She'd insisted on the umbrellas. One of which was currently being surreptitiously wedged behind his ear, nestled next to the place his sunglasses hung.

"Absolutely not!" Adam said, sitting up and batting Hailee away. His Northern accent was stupidly apparent as he did it, and he instantly felt super-tourist because of it. Not to be outdone, however, he quickly yanked the little plastic sword from his drink and pointed it at the brunette. "Try it again and I'll cut you," he said.

"Oh, honey, only two inches?" she laughed, her bright blue eyes sparkling.

God, she'd adorned herself with the little multi-coloured umbrellas. How many of those drinks had she had, anyways? He knew that she couldn't get drunk in the traditional sense, but he was suspicious of her brain freezing and melting out of her ears. It was hot outside, and those drinks were cold. And fruity. He really wanted something less queer.

"This is pretty much exactly what I needed, by the way. How did you get us set up on that cruise, anyways?" she asked, tipping her Gucci sunglasses down as she examined her toenails in the bright sunlight. The colour was an iridescent blue-purple, one she'd picked out on the boat at the salon. Manicure, pedicure. Spas were so great.

"Well, let's just say my marks have a really bad habit of trying to bribe me," he said honestly. He turned over to her and grinned, then layed back down on his towel. "You should see the look on their face when I take the bribe and kill them anyways." He laughed, the sound deep and cheerful.

"Whatever," she responded, standing up. "I'm going to go find the guy who lets you swim with the dolphins. I'll be back in a while. Better drink all the beer you can before then; when I get back, it's margarita time," she said with a loud hoot. She danced around, jumping into the turquoise flip-flops that matched her Chanel bikini, and then snatched her wrap and jetted off down the beach to find Jose's Dolphin Tours.

Adam sat up. "Hey, excuse me," he said, flagging down a resort staff member. "Can I get a Bud Light?" he asked. He was going to make it a point to drink at least a six pack before she got back, and bury himself in the sand while he did it.
